App Store / Devices

Device Compatibility & App Store

Confirm your device and purchasing account before opening the App Store product page. Check the App Store listing for system requirements, compatibility, and whether purchases are universal.

iPhone

Use Home to add, select, and test connection details you already have. Before purchasing, expand the store's compatibility information and confirm that your system meets the requirements. The first time you connect, iOS asks to add a VPN configuration. Check the app name and understand what you are authorizing before proceeding.

Installing the app only means the client is ready. Prepare your own subscription or server details first, and check that the address, port, and authentication fields are complete before importing them using the guide. A successful App Store purchase does not mean your connection is ready to use.

iPad

If you’ve already purchased the app, use the original Apple Account to find it in your App Store purchases. Check the listing to confirm whether the purchase is universal across your devices. In landscape orientation, lists and editing panels may be arranged differently; use interface labels such as Home, Config, and Settings to find your way.

Purchase history and app configuration are separate. After reinstalling the app on another device, check its server list, selected Config, and system authorization. Even with iCloud sync, open the configuration and verify its contents rather than relying on the filename.

Shadowrocket is also available from the same App Store on Mac and Apple TV; check the store listing for compatibility.

Check the storefront associated with your current purchasing account for availability, currency, and purchase history. If search results don’t match what you expect, open the product page using the link below, then verify the developer, icon, and app ID.

Capabilities

Rule Configuration & Connection Management

Find features by task: Rules determine request routing, Protocols define connection parameters, and Subscribe manages imported sources. On Demand and Diagnostics handle automatic triggers and result checks respectively; neither replaces server settings.

Rules: Choose a Policy by Condition

Rule-based routing determines which requests use a proxy, connect directly, or are rejected. Check the Rule section in Config, then verify the behavior with Global Routing set to Config. Rules are usually matched from top to bottom; place specific conditions before broader ones and put FINAL at the end as a fallback. DOMAIN-SUFFIX matches domain suffixes, while IP-CIDR matches destination address ranges. Before editing, keep a copy of the original configuration and confirm that policy names match the available options.

  • Check rule order and match scope
  • Understand PROXY, DIRECT, and REJECT
  • Check which rule matches an actual request

Check inputs and conditions first. Then verify the connection and rule results.

Choose Global Routing and protocol type separately

Config uses rules in the active configuration to determine where requests go. Proxy routes requests through a proxy; Direct connects without one. Protocol type describes how the client communicates with the server. Changing Global Routing won’t fix an incorrect password, key, or port, and switching protocol types won’t add missing rules.

Verify statistics, sync, and automatic connections separately

Data shows traffic statistics, iCloud syncs relevant configuration, and On Demand triggers connections based on conditions. Each serves a different purpose. When troubleshooting, first identify whether the issue is a connection that didn’t trigger, a configuration that didn’t sync, or a request that took the wrong route. Then check the relevant screen instead of changing several settings at once and losing track of the cause.

Three Steps to Your First Connection

After installing the app from the App Store and preparing your own subscription or server details, follow these steps in order. Start with a basic setup you can test, then add more specific routing rules and automatic triggers.

01 / Add Server

Add Existing Connection Details

On Home, open Add Server. For manual setup, choose the Type first, then check Host, Port, and authentication fields. To import a subscription, use your complete link and confirm that entries appear in the SERVER group after saving. If you import using Scan QR Code, open the entry and check its parameters as well.

If the list is empty after saving, check that the import content and link are complete; don’t repeatedly create entries with the same name. Keep one connection with a clear source for testing. If the protocol uses TLS or additional transport fields, match each one to the details provided by your service provider instead of guessing based on field names.

02 / Global Routing

Choose a Routing Mode and Active Configuration

Return to Home, select the server you want to test, and check Global Routing. To use rule-based routing, select Config and confirm the active configuration file on the Config screen. To distinguish a rules issue from a server issue temporarily, compare the results using Proxy and Direct as appropriate.

A configuration file can exist without being selected, and files with the same name may have different contents. After importing or syncing on another device, check the Rule section and the policy used by FINAL. For the first test, keep the rules simple and easy to understand; add conditions gradually after confirming the results.

03 / Connectivity Test

Connect and Test a Request

Turn on the connection and follow the system prompt to authorize the VPN configuration. Then run Connectivity Test and visit a destination you want to use, checking request logs and rule matches to assess the result. A connection indicator only shows the relevant connection status; it is not proof that the target request succeeded.

If the test times out, first confirm that your local network works, then check the address, port, authentication, and system time. If only some destinations fail, check DNS and rules. After each change, retest the same destination and note any difference. Hide credentials before sharing subscription links or diagnostic logs.

Verify the App Store Listing & Purchase Details

Shadowrocket is a closed-source, paid app available exclusively from the App Store. This is the Shadowrocket Official Guide and manual. Use the App Store product page to verify purchase, compatibility, and update information.

DeveloperShadow Launch Technology Limited App ID932747118 One-time purchase iPhone and iPad · Check purchase eligibility on the App Store listing

Check the developer, official icon, and app ID

Open the product page from the App Store link and confirm the app is named Shadowrocket and the developer is Shadow Launch Technology Limited. Compare the icon with the official icon shown here, then check that the app ID in the product page URL is 932747118. The name alone is only a starting point; verify all three details together.

Search results may include apps with similar names or icons, so don’t rely only on ranking or a single word in the name. If a page opened from search doesn’t match the details above, return to this site’s App Store page and use the specified product link. Before confirming a purchase, check the app name and account again.

The official icon helps identify the app, but it does not replace checking the developer information and product link in the App Store. After verification, refer to the current product page for system requirements, compatible devices, and purchase eligibility.

See How to Verify the Three Details →

Price, Storefront, and Purchase Eligibility

Shadowrocket is a one-time purchase. The U.S. price is about $2.99; check the App Store listing for the current price. Other storefronts display local currency. The page language, device language, and storefront tied to your purchasing account are different things. Check the price, payment terms, and availability in the store opened with your current account.

A one-time purchase describes how the client is paid for; it doesn’t include a connection service or guarantee that an existing subscription remains valid. App purchases, server authentication, and subscription validity are separate matters: the App Store provides access to the app, while connection details must be imported and tested in the client.

To use a past purchase on both iPhone and iPad with the same Apple Account, check the App Store listing to confirm whether the purchase is universal. For Family Sharing and other purchase conditions, consult the product page and follow the system prompts. Don’t assume an account has a purchase record just because the app is installed on another device.

Reinstall the App and Restore Your Configuration

When switching devices or reinstalling, use the original Apple Account to find Shadowrocket in App Store purchases. If the purchase status differs from what you expect, check the account and storefront, then review your purchase history before assuming you need to buy the app again. Also check compatibility to confirm whether it’s available on your current device.

Restoring a purchase does not automatically restore all connection settings. After reopening the app, check the server list, subscription source, active Config, and VPN configuration authorization separately. If you use iCloud sync, check the system and in-app settings, then confirm that the files are present on this device.

Before deleting the app, make sure you’ve safely saved any configuration you need. Check separately how to restore manually added server details, rules you’ve edited, and local files that haven’t synced. Being able to redownload a purchased app doesn’t guarantee that local configuration can be restored.

See How to Restore App Store Purchases →

Update Through the App Store and Recheck Settings

App updates are delivered through the App Store. You can use automatic updates if allowed by your system, or check for updates in the store. System requirements and compatibility can change, so check the current product page before proceeding. This guide doesn’t list version numbers or release dates, which could make static information look current.

If the interface looks different after an update, use labels such as Home, Config, and Settings to find options, then check that the relevant settings are still as expected. If connection behavior changes, check the selected server and Config first rather than deleting every configuration. Previously working settings and test results can help you compare.

When documenting an issue, include the steps you took, network environment, selected protocol, and error behavior, but hide credentials in subscription links, passwords, and private keys. Information that distinguishes a connection failure from an unexpected rule result makes it easier to troubleshoot one variable at a time.

Purchase and First-Use FAQs

I’ve purchased the app. Why do I still need to import connection details?

Purchasing the app gives you a license to use the client. Import your own subscription or server details in Add Server, then select an entry to test it. Purchasing the app and obtaining a connection service are separate things. Follow the first-use guide to check each step.

My subscription updated. Why didn’t the rules change?

Subscribe and Config manage different things. First confirm that the server group updated, then check the selected Config and Global Routing. A change to server entries does not mean the rules file was replaced. See Check Subscription Updates.

Connectivity Test passed. Does that mean rule-based routing is working correctly?

A successful test shows reachability using the selected test method; it doesn’t prove that every destination is handled by the expected policy. Visit the actual destination and check DNS, rule matches, and results in Data as well. See Check DNS Settings.

Technical Notes

Configuration Details & Technical Notes

Each note covers one task: first understand what a field or trigger condition does, then check your own configuration. For server settings, use information you already have; don’t infer server-side settings from the protocol name.
